Hi Everyone!

We've passed the one-year-away mark and now we can all count the days until
the next NOLOSE conference in October! Whee!

Because we love NOLOSE and because we love food, we over here in the
mid-Atlantic region thought we'd find a way to make money for NOLOSE using
food! (Can you imagine anything better?!)

To that end, we are now in the action stage of developing a NOLOSE cookbook
to be printed in time (probably sooner!) for our next conference. We hope to
make lots of bucks for the organization while at the same time, creating an
awesome product that will warm all the cockles of our hearts.

Here's where you come in. We need your recipes! Whether they are recipes for
things you make all the time or for the amazing lemon poppyseed muffins you
tasted at your Aunt Gertrude's 80th birthday party, we need to know about
it. We are looking for about 200 recipes, so please don't be shy. Write it
down and shoot it over. We'll take anything from soup to nuts and everything
in between. We will be including a vegan section, veggie section and comfort
food section, among the other more traditional cookbook sections
(appetizers, desserts, etc.)

Send your recipes to robin at nolose.org and include a title for the recipe as
well as how you would like to be credited in the book. We'll also take a
note or two, if you have one that might be particularly interesting. (Like,
for example, "I made this cake for my mother; she loved it so much she spit
milk out her nose!"

Please feel free to solicit recipes from anyone you know. If Uncle Stewie
makes a mean vegan "turkey" pot pie, by all means, get him to jot it down
for us.

ALSO:
We are also looking for art to include in the book. Photographs, drawings
and other images are all acceptable. If you have shots of yourself to send
along with your recipes, that'd be fun. We'd also love any sexy photos or
drawings of hot fatties. Artwork submission guidelines are way down at the
bottom this email.

OH! And ALSO-
We are holding a Cover Design contest. We want a rockin' cover design and we
know there are some amazingly talented artists out there. The contest winner
will get zir artwork on the cover (y'think?) and a free copy of the
cookbook. The cover art should be black and white. We can choose later what
color ink to print it with.

Oh yeah, and plus------
We are also holding a contest for the content of the first page of the
cookbook. This is a spot where we'd love to have a cool poem or piece of
writing that somehow embodies all that NOLOSE is. Fat and Queer and awesome
and all of that. The winner of this contest will get zir work on the inside
first page and will also get a free copy of the cookbook. Send those
submissions to robin at nolose.org also.

Oh and just one more thing, I swear:
Do you have a fun suggestion for a title? Send your ideas our way!

The deadline for submissions is March 25,2006, but we'd love to start
getting stuff ASAP. We will also be starting to pre-sell the books, so start
spreading the word. An email about presales will follow shortly.

Please email robin at nolose.org with any questions.

Thanks!
xoxo

Artwork Submission Guidelines:

Dos

   * DO submit original photos (black and white or color).

   * DO submit original artwork or ink drawings.

   * DO submit files on disk at a minimum resolution of 300 dpi in TIFF,
EPS or JPEG format.

   * DO submit black and white laser prints for line art only (not
acceptable for grayscale art or photographs).

Don'ts

   * DO NOT submit inkjet or laser printouts of photos or grayscale
graphics from your computer. Submit these files on disk instead. (Exception:
laser prints are preferred for black and white line art.)

   * DO NOT submit photos or graphics clipped from newspapers, magazines,
greeting cards, stationery, etc. They will reproduce poorly and may be
copyrighted.

   * DO NOT submit photocopies of photos or graphics

   * DO NOT submit pencil or crayon drawings.

   * DO NOT use paper clips, staples or tape on your photos or artwork
which can damage your originals.

   * DO NOT crop your original photographs. Instead, make a photocopy of
the photo, mark the copy how you would like it to be cropped and submit with
the original photograph as a guide.

   * DO NOT submit artwork that is disproportionate. Cover templates are
available for download from our web site.

   * DO NOT submit low-resolution files on disk. Images from web sites are
generally not high enough resolution.

   * DO NOT submit files in unsupported formats. We may not be able to open
your files, resulting in a delay. We accept TIFF, EPS or JPEG (300 dpi or
higher at the size needed for printing). If you do not see a file format
here that you are able to produce, or you have specific questions about your
program, please contact us.

   * DO NOT submit art larger than 8.5" x 11"

   * DO NOT submit negatives or transparencies.
