Saturday, April 21, Oakland, CA: The first Fat Health and Medical Advocacy
Group will be held from 1-3pm in the meeting room at the Lakeview Branch of
the Oakland Public Library : http://www.oaklandlibrary.org/Branches/lak.html

The group will be focused on self-identified fat women and queers. If you'd
like to attend and you're not a fat woman or queer, please email me and let
me know a bit about who you are and why you'd like to attend.

The Lakeview Library has a parking lot, is accessible, and is easily
reachable via public transportation. The NL line of the transbay bus stops
about a block away on Grand and Lake Park, as does AC transit line 12, which
picks up near the Oakland 12th St BART stop, and the AC transit line 57,
which picks up near MacArthur BART. If you need a ride from BART, let
Amanda know.

The group cost is $0 - whatever you can pay. This project is operating with
the help of NOLOSE ( http://www.nolose.org/) <http://www.nolose.org/>, the
non-profit tax status of which has helped secure reduced-rate access to
facilities. However, the direct cost of the group to me will be around $40,
which I hope to cover with the help of contributions.

Please RSVP for the group as soon as possible by writing to Amanda:
amandapiasecki at yahoo.com. Attendance will be capped at 20 people. Please
email with any questions or concerns.

Saturday, April 28th, Asbury Park, NJ: My Big Fat Queer Prom at the Tides
Bistro, 800 Boardwalk. 7-11 pm. The event coincides with the high school
prom "season." The Bistro has a beautiful ocean view and provides the
perfect romantic backdrop to this event.

My Big Fat Queer Prom is an opportunity for the fat and queer communities to
come together for fun and frolic! Many people in both communities were
unable to bring the person they wanted to their own high school prom or
perhaps never even attended their prom for a variety of reasons. My Big Fat
Queer Prom will allow people from both communities to finally experience the
magic of going to a prom surrounded by supportive folks in a safe and fun
environment.

There will be a photo opportunity station complete with Prom Queen and Prom
King crowns and sashes so all attendees can be King and/or Queen of THIS
prom! Light refreshments will be served, there will be door prizes and
plenty of dancing and romancing.

Tickets are available on a sliding scale from $32-$45 dollars per person in
advance and may be obtained by emailing mybigfatqueerprom at yahoo.com Tickets
will also be available at the door for a flat fee of $45 per person. All
proceeds will benefit Nolose, a 501 c 3 organization dedicated to the
community of fat queer women, trans folks and their allies.

My Big Fat Queer Prom welcomes people of all sexual orientations, genders,
and sizes so you don't have to be fat and queer to come to the prom, but it
sure helps if you are!

Sunday, April 29th, Toronto, ON: Fat Femme Mafia Flea Market from 10-5 in
the Art Bar at the Gladstone.

If you have old Fat Clothes you would like to donate, please email
fatfemmemafia at hotmail.com
and tell us an appropriate time. We will come and pick up your old stuff. We
are looking for all kinds of clothes, boys girls, whatever...size 14 and up.
No smaller than that, please.

In exchange...you will recieve Fat Flea bucks that you can use to shop
freely at the actual event....if you choose to do so. Give us your old
wardrobe and we will give you a new one!!!

Saturday June 9, Portland, OR: FatGirl Speaks at PSU's Smith Memorial
Student Ballroom in downtown Portland.

This year's theme is "Every Day is a Revolution!" To us, this means that all
day, every day, each act of self-love and acceptance is a revolutionary act.
Every time you defy a stereotype, or every time you willfully dare *not* to,
you are being revolutionary! We want to celebrate you!
