I am happy to meet. Unfortunately, my schedule tends to be hard for others. I am sometimes available early in the day (when most people are at work) and then I rarely get home from work before 10pm. Actually, on a Wed night I could meet at 10, but on Mon or Tuesday it couldnt be till 10:30 and on Thursday I dont get home till 11. Or, I could do a Friday night after 7:45 or over the weekend.
One thought about FA and students, etc. We could do something like Cristy suggests and let people know that IF there are any funds left over, we will consider others. That way people actually living in poverty get priority, but others who may really not be able to come without help get considered if there is extra money? Just a thought.

Subject: [Nolose-finance] hi there!
hey you guys,
I think we ned to have ameeting, don't you?
So, I have done some math. A rough and early estimate of the cost of the conference, per person is $200. I can explain how I got this if you want, but basically, it't the per person cost of the hotel, plus administrative costs, entertainment costs and the like, divided per person with an expectation that 100 people will register. So, I propose that the fee scale start at $200, middle is at $250 and high is $300. I really feel strongly that the lowest end of the scale is cost, and we tell people that.
As for the FA, Danielle is interested in doing it, and sitting on this committee. She is very good with money, and I think an asset. We talked about it, and we both think that the best plan is to have a transparent income guideline (if you make <10,000, you get this much, etc), based roughly on the federal poverty guidelines-which would mean that around $25,000 and up gets no FA. We also discussed perhaps asking for work study from FA recipients-stuffing packets, carrying food trays, whatever. We don't necessarily have to require it, but we could ask if they would like to. I am working on the application, and I will include something like that. As for people who are students, I am conflicted. There is a difference from being a poor student to living in poverty, ya know? We need to talk about this. I might just say that on the app.
Also, in the past we talked about earmarking FA for underrepresented populations in order to help with diversifying, so having 2 scholarships (complete conf. reg) for supersized folks, 2 for folks with mobility disabilities, 2 for POC, 2 for folks over 40, etc. What do you think of resurrecting this idea, and how would you like to see it structured?
Ok, I think that's good for now. Let me know about meeting times and whatnot.
xxx,
cristy
