[Nolose-outreach] print ad recon

Sarah, thanks for all your work!

I think we should do ALL the free online ads we can. Sarah, can you
coordinate with Zoe and Stefanie (they're doing online outreach)?

Sarah, can you also get me ad specs for the trades with BITCH and
AGGRESSIVE? I need to know ad size, preferred file format, and deadline for
next issue (we need to also make sure the issue in question will actually be
printed before the conference, otherwise it's not worth it).

I'm noticing that we are doing this super late for many pubs. Deadlines have
passed for getting ads into most bi-monthlies before the conference. At this
point I think our ad research should focus on deadline dates and figuring
out what we can still do before the conference.

What's our budget, again? And do we need to vote on how we are spending the
money? Here are two possibilities from Sarah's list. We need to decide fast,
though. Deadline for Colorlines is in a few days.

*COLORLINES*: deadline for Sept/Oct issue is June 2. I'm assuming a 1/6 page
ad, which is $175.

Also, we could do an online classified ad, 4 weeks online, $1.25 per word,
minimum 25 words.

*LESBIAN CONNECTION*: I am completely shocked by their expensive rates! ¼
page b/w or one-color ad (the cheapest) in their Sept/Oct catalog is $298;
Deadline is postmark June 25. (We could have done this cheaper because it's
a "dated event," but the deadline for that was in April).

MAKE/SHIFT: I've already sent them a free announcement that they'll print,
but we are too late for actual print advertising. They only come out twice a
year, so that's a challenging one.

Thanks folks,

--Max
