Our job is to find a great place in northern/central California for next
year's Nolose conference.
At our board meeting a couple nights ago, the board was unanimous about
wanting to do it retreat-style again, meaning we'd have a place to
ourselves. We also batted around the idea of extending the conference by a
day (like, Thursday - Sunday). But we agreed that it'd be best to explore
comparative costs of doing that before deciding.
In any case, we need to move quickly on finding a place.
Perhaps we shoud start by answering this question: If we had the perfect
setting for nolose, what would it be? Tell me your ideas!
Also, if anyone has any possible places in mind, what are they?
Ideally, I'd like to come up with a group of potential places that meet our
needs, and have us locals get together for a road trip to check them out,
preferably this month.
Ok, so my answer to the question about my perfect place for nolose would be
this:
-- accessible, not just for wheelchairs, but also for supersized people and
people with mobility issues
-- relaxed yet attentive staff (i thought the menla staff were fucking
great)
-- group togetherness at meal times
-- swimming pool, preferably a heated one
-- outside the cities
-- an extra day
-- cheaper than it has been
That's what I've got so far, folks.
xoxoxo Max
