It has taken me as long as 4 hours to get to Esalon with weekend
traffic. Menla was about 2-21/2 hours. It would take less time if folks
fly into San Jose, but I think we should try to figure out the distance
thing, as well as figure out as a group how we want to split up the
search so that we are not all looking at the same stuff to start.
I propose that we split into geographical areas as a starting point for
initial searching, and of course people can feel free to look beyond
their area if they feel like they have the time, differing search
skills, or special interest in a specific location. We can split up by
county, or general direction, and maybe split into groups of 2 or 3.
Seems like good starting points would be Marin, Napa, Sonoma, South
Bay/Santa Cruz Mountains, SF/Oakland/Berkeley (if we want an in town
option), Unincorporated Alameda/Contra Costa and then a concentric
circle that reaches beyond depending on our distance max that could
include places like Monterey and South, Sacramento and East (Sierras),
and north to Mendocino. I am truly hoping that we can find a place
within a couple of hours from the Bay Area, so maybe the further out
places are back up?
What do you all think about that?
I am into Sonoma County as a search area (includes the whole Russian
River area), and would also help take on the in town stuff if needed.
