[Nolose 2007 Venue] Menla

I got a call from Menla today.  Shanti is no longer in that position, someone named Linda is.  Anyways, she wanted to know about next year.  I told her we were moving to the west coast for next year but that we really liked Menla and might be interested in talking for a future year. 

I also told her, however, that they were pricey for us and that we had lower numbers because we didnt have enough money for as much FA as people needed.  So I said while we were interested, we would need to discuss price.  She said she was open to doing that and would love to hear from us in the future.

I am sending this both to venue and the board so that the info is not lost for the future.  Now that they know they liked having us and we paid, etc.  they might be more amenable to discounts.

  After having just read through all of the conference centers and retreats in UCCR, I am slightly brain dead.  Anyway, question, what kind of pricing are we looking at?  Starting next month, Christine and I will begin looking in Monterey county.

  hi folks,

  Timnah is joining the venue committee. I just added her to this list. welcome, timnah! We are me, amanda, holly, sondy, pat, and deva locally, and shira and cristy are also on from afar.

  We need to get moving on finding a place. We're shooting for next october, and places typically book a year in advance. 

  The areas people have picked so far are:

  Deva: Sonoma and Marin counties
  Amanda: Napa and Lake counties
  Holly: Peninsula / Santa Cruz mountains / Santa Cruz
  Max: Sacramento and the Sierras
  Sondra: San Francisco and Alameda and Contra Costa counties

  Deva is the only one so far who's said she can spend time looking this week. We can reassign areas if people don't have time. I'm thinking maybe it's a good idea to reassign the research tasks to people who are actually available to do the research. So, PLEASE let me know whether or not you can spend a few hours this week researching possible places in your area. We can plug Timnah in wherever she's most needed, too.
